What is Pedodontics?
Milk teeth usually start to appear when the baby is six months old. The eruption of milk teeth is completed at approximately 3 years of age. During this period, there are 20 milk teeth in the mouth. Milk teeth are more prone to wear and decay due to their structural differences.
At the age of 6, milk teeth begin to be replaced by permanent teeth. This situation continues until the average age of 13. This period between the ages of 6 and 13, when both milk teeth and permanent teeth are present in the mouth, is called the mixed dentition period. During this period, existing caries in milk teeth also negatively affect the health of newly erupted permanent teeth. Our main mission in our Department of Pedodontics is; Our aim is to protect the oral and dental health of pediatric patients from birth to adolescence, to prevent various problems that may arise, to detect existing diseases and anomalies at an early stage and to ensure their treatment before they progress.

While all these preventive and therapeutic procedures are carried out; One of the most important issues is that patients are treated without fear, anxiety and pain. Within the field of pedodontics; In addition to healthy children, all dental treatments of children with various systemic diseases and disabilities are also included. These patients require special care (Various syndromes such as heart diseases, diabetes, mellitus, kidney diseases, Down syndrome, autism, spasticity, cerebral palsy, mental disability, attention deficit and hyperactivity, children with dentist phobia) are treated under sedation or general anesthesia in operating room conditions.
